That was Christmas

Remember the time when we traveled up to Auckland?
Remember the chilly water touching our toes?
That was Christmas.

Remember all the presents under the Christmas Tree?
Remember walking on the crunchy pebbles under our feet?
That was Christmas.

Remember the sand oozing through our toes?
Remember stockings on the mantle piece?
That was Christmas.

Personification Poem

The grass defends.
The dark clouds fight.
The rainbow overlooks the battle.
The sun gives its last light of luck
to the grass before it dies.
THE END

Personification Poem

The poles stand to attention.
The sea chatters.
The waves try to grab my feet.
The bushes wave to me.

THE END

Lighthouse by Joe

One cold miserable night villagers at a pub were having a party. Up at the lighthouse the lighthouse keeper just wanted to be in peace. He was writing a letter. Then he heard a crash. He immediately got up but he fell over. He got his lantern and flew up the stairs fast. He looked at the light. He put the lantern down and then ran up another twisted stairs. Then he heard a ship horn. He lifted the light and tripped over his toolkit. He looked down at the villagers with lanterns. He ran down the twisted staircase and then he gasped. The villages were walking up the hill to help. The villagers were on the cliff and the sand. Their lights showed the boat the land to show the place where it should go. The ship but sounded its horn and turned to the right.

Room 15 @ Opunake Primary: Rona and the Moon Joe and Jordan

Here is Joe and Jordan's 'Rona and the Moon' Legends.

  • Our class read lots of different versions of the Maori Legend 'Rona and the Moon'.
  • We took what we had read and rewrote our own versions of the legend.
  • Our next step was to create a poster relating to each of the stages of the legend.
  • We scanned and saved our pictures onto Google Docs and shared them with each other.
  • We used Explain Everything to put our legends and our pictures together.
  • We then published each of our legends to YouTube.

My taonga

My taonga is 36 and a half centimetres long and made in the USA. It is a telescope and the brand is Argus. What is so special about it is that it is my Granddads. He died and gave it to my dad. My dad then gave it to me. My granddad died about 24 years ago. The telescope is about 40 years old. My Granddad died in 1990. No wonder I didn’t see him. My Granddad used it for archery. I used it to look at anything. The colour of the telescope is black and silver.
